Overview of some clinical challenges in equine surgery in orthopedy, neurology and upper airway surgery. Describe how the knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics has helped us to design new techniques and dedicated implants either using existing human technology for another purpose, either designing specific equine implants thanks to the new 3D printing technology. Highlight this concept through example in fracture repair: Distal femoral plate for surgical treatment of highly comminuted fractures of the first phalanx; New 3D cervical plate and spacer for surgical treatment of cervical vertebral stenotic myelopathy (wobbler syndrome); and new hybrid technique of Dynamic Neuro Prosthesis using 3D printed implants and graft of a new nerve, for treatment of recurrent laryngeal neuropathy.
