Near infrared fluorescence imaging (NIRFI) can be used in many veterinary surgical procedures, including thoracic duct ligation, cholecystectomy, GDV, and wound reconstruction to better visualize anatomy and assess tissue vascularization. The use of NIRFI to visualize tumors, tumor margins, lymph nodes, and synchronous metastatic lesions in the surgical field has expanded substantially in the last 15 years. This presentation illustrates the use of imaging agents and imaging systems and discuss the advances and challenges in this field.
