Splenectomy for spontaneous hemoperitoneum is a common surgical procedure performed today. There are various reports on the expected risks, complications, and outcomes for these patients, all with variable findings. This is likely reflective of the retrospective nature in which this data is acquired. This lecture presents information from a prospectively collected cohort of nearly 300 dogs that underwent splenectomy for spontaneous hemoperitoneum as part of the Ethos PUSH clinical trial.
