Boarded farm animal surgeons face numerous challenges when operating on the farm due to the lack of a traditional surgical theater and the supporting surgical and anesthesia teams commonly found in teaching and private veterinary institutions. Despite these obstacles, providing high quality care to ruminant patients is achievable by adapting to the realities of the farm environment. Through real-world examples, this lecture aims to deepen your understanding of the unique challenges faced by farm animal surgeons working in the field and to explore valuable strategies and techniques for navigating or mitigating them.
