Staff Surgeon, Director of Interventional Radiology Service The Animal Medical Center New York, New York
Open to ACVS and ECVS Diplomates and residents
This laboratory is the evolution of the previously held tracheal stent lab. This new laboratory is designed to teach beginners, as well as those with more experience performing tracheal stenting, about the indications, case selection criteria, medical and interventional management, trouble-shooting, difficult/complex case treatment, handling and avoiding complications, and follow-up instructions for clients and referring veterinarians. Each individual attendee will learn about the decision-making process of tracheal stenting from beginning to end, and will go through patient positioning, obtaining appropriate measurement radiographs, performing measurements and stent selection, and stent placement in models under visual guidance in training models. Focusing on basic as well as the most technical aspects of tracheal stenting permits more time for case discussion and more advanced demonstration of selected stent placement tips and techniques as well as stent removal.
