Lavinia E. Chiti graduated magna cum laude from the University of Milan (Italy) in 2016, with a master's thesis on the impact of early detection of nodal metastases in dogs with mast cell tumors. In 2017-2018, she completed a rotating and specialty ECVS internship in small animal surgery at a private clinic in Milan. In 2018, she received a scholarship from the University of Milan for a PhD in small animal surgery, focusing on the use of radiopharmaceuticals for the identification and removal of sentinel lymph nodes in dogs with mast cell tumors and head and neck tumors. She completed her PhD in 2021.
In 2022, Dr. Chiti moved to the University of Zurich to pursue a post-doctoral fellowship in surgical oncology. In 2023, she began her ECVS residency in small animal surgery and was awarded an internal grant for her residency project, "Comparison of Near-Infrared Fluorescent Lymphography and Lymphoscintigraphy for Sentinel Lymph Node Removal in Canine Mast Cell Tumors." Dr. Chiti is the author of several papers in international journals, with her main research interest in surgical oncology.
