Associate Doctor/ Small Animal Surgical Intern

Dr. Benedek is a dedicated small animal veterinarian and emergency clinician with experience in both elective and emergency surgeries. Currently completing a Small Animal Surgery Internship at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, she is developing her skills in orthopedic and soft tissue procedures, including fracture repair, wound management, reconstruction, and minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Benedek is actively involved in pre- and postoperative care, anesthesia protocols, and wound management, and strives to provide the highest level of care for her patients. Participation in rounds, journal clubs, and surgical seminars helps her continually improve her knowledge and expertise.
Previously, Dr. Benedek completed a Small Animal Surgery Internship at Charlotte Animal Referral and Emergency, where she gained valuable training in diagnosing and treating surgical diseases. She was actively involved in surgical planning and intraoperative decision-making, and she worked hard to refine her understanding of surgical techniques, aseptic protocols, and the use of advanced instrumentation.
In addition to her internships, Dr. Benedek has worked as an emergency clinician at several veterinary hospitals, including Medvet Norwalk, Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital, and VCA Veterinary Specialist of Connecticut. In these roles, she handled emergency surgeries like gastrointestinal procedures, splenectomies, and cesarean sections, while providing critical care in busy, high-pressure environments.
During her time as Lead Veterinarian at Banfield Pet Hospital, Dr. Benedek focused on soft tissue surgeries and mentoring associate veterinarians, always working to maintain high standards of patient care and client service.
Dr. Benedek earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She also holds a BS in Biochemistry and an MA in Applied Statistics from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her passion for learning extends to research, she has been involved in studies on bone temperature regulation during surgery and the use of biological scaffolds for bone healing.
