Dr. Marsolais is a board-certified small animal veterinary surgeon, having graduated from Iowa State University in 2002 with a DVM degree and a Master of Science in Veterinary Clinical Sciences. Following this, he completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Orlando, Florida in 2003 and finished his Small Animal Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois in 2006, achieving Board Certification in Small Animal Surgery in 2007.
In 2008, Dr. Marsolais founded Pet Surgeons, Inc., a mobile veterinary surgery company, and later in 2011, he established Pet Specialists of Monterey, a 24-hour Emergency and Specialty hospital. The hospital's excellence was recognized in 2019 when it was named the AAHA Specialty Hospital of the Year. After the acquisition of Pet Specialists by Blue Pearl in 2020, Dr. Marsolais continued as Medical Director until 2024.
Transitioning back to academia, Dr. Marsolais joined his alma mater, the University of Illinois, in 2024 as a part-time Lecturer in Orthopedic Surgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Concurrently, he maintains his mobile surgery practice through Pet Surgeons, offering business consultation, locum coverage, and specialized surgical services.
