Dr. Churgin currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Animal Health at Arizona State University, where she is part of the faculty for the large pre-veterinary student program. She is also a consultant in zoo, wildlife, and exotic pet cases for VetCT. She is a native of Phoenix and attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate studies. She completed a DVM at Texas A&M University followed by a small animal rotating internship in Florida, a zoological medicine internship at the Phoenix Zoo, and a zoological medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee County Zoo. From 2014-2022, she resided in Hong Kong and served as a clinical veterinarian at Ocean Park Hong Kong, a large zoological and aquatic facility. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Zoological Medicine and is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.
Dr. Churgin's areas of interests include aquatic animal medicine, animal welfare, infectious disease, and integrative medicine. She enjoys teaching in both a didactic and clinical setting. Outside of veterinary medicine, she loves to travel and is always excited to talk about her time living abroad in Asia.
