Stephan Zeiter is a veterinarian and researcher at the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI) in Switzerland. His PhD was on tissue engineering approaches for intervertebral disc degeneration. Thereafter, he specialized in preclinical studies involving animals. In 2013, he became a diplomate of the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ECLAM).
His main focus is supporting researchers with their preclinical studies, which have to be of high quality. For this reason, ARI`s animal facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified, accredited by AAALAC International, and an officially recognized GLP test facility.
His research interest is tailored towards refining preclinical models and methods. He is the author of over 100 papers. He is engaged in several local, national, European and international societies:
- Co-president Naturforschende Gesellschaft (NGD)
- Member of the scientific committee of the Swiss Laboratory Animals Science Association (SGV)
- Past-President of the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ECLAM)
- Co-founder and Past Chair of the Preclinical Model Section of the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS)
- Co-founder and past member of Council of the European Academy of Laboratory Animal Surgery (EALAC)
