History: Medical leader for VCA Inc. for 14 years with a focus on quality, patient safety and patient care. Clinically worked in emergency/critical care and very quickly saw how much of an impact hospital culture and empowering nurses has on improving patient outcomes.
Current areas of focus: Creating a culture of safety across MVH hospitals and building a global patient safety event reporting system to allow us to look at trends in our data and work to make our systems safer. Currently work with a MVH Global Patient Safety Team and MVH Quality Council to improve safety culture, teamwork and efficiency in our hospitals. Working with Johns Hopkins to integrate team training and culture of safety programs like TeamStepps into MVH hospitals.
