Dr. Gwladys Malek was born in Paris, France and obtained her DMV degree from VetAgro Sup, University of Lyon in France in 2018. After completing an equine rotating internship at the University of Montreal (Quebec, Canada) in 2019, she then enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in the Comparative Orthopedic Research laboratory supervised by Dr Sheila Laverty DACVS and graduated in 2021. The subject of her study was the development of an in vitro assay to study equine osteoclast function. Dr. Malek completed an additional one-year equine surgery internship at ONIRIS, University of Nantes in France in 2022. She is currently enrolled in an Equine Surgery Residency (3rd year) at the University of Montreal. Her current research focuses on the effects of intra-articular medication on equine osteoclast activity. Dr. Malek’s professional interests include equine joint diseases, orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and advanced medical imaging.
