This seminar provides current information on a variety of surgical topics relating to exotic companion animals, rehabilitated wildlife patients, and zoo animal species. Approaches to these patients and some of their unique anatomy and physiology are discussed before focusing on surgical treatments for common disorders. In addition, the seminar will overview how to approach of these unique species and discuss limitation in surgical and medical management due to anatomy, husbandry, and behavior of these species. The seminar provides surgeons with approaches on how to get involved with these species and how to effectively collaborate with zoological and wildlife facilities in order to elevate the care for these animals.
