Seminar: From Joint Injections, Including Orthobiologics, to Navigating Canine Athlete Care at the Agility World Championships and the Iditarod in the Alaskan Wilderness at −40°F
Orthobiologics is a term within the field of regenerative medicine used to refer to the use of biologically derived products to help musculoskeletal injuries heal; include an array of therapies; and may be delivered by injection or graft. Some of the more commonly used types include platelet rich plasma (PRP), autologous conditioned plasma (ACP), autologous conditioned serum (ACS), mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC). This lecture explores the most common product applications for PRP and stem cell therapy in dogs with a focus on clinical efficacy and potential adverse events. Attendees examine differences amongst various preparations and considerations for dosing, including combined or staged therapies.
