Review articles are an essential part of the literature; they inform clinicians of the most up to date clinical and scientific research, report on current knowledge gaps to direct future studies, and are an important educational experience for the writer. Definitions and format for evidence (namely clinical guidelines, scoping reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses) and narrative reviews will be discussed. Key aspects of writing a successful review article and things that are a must to avoid will be described. Pertinent resources to help authors prepare to write a review article are provided.
