Burn injuries are infrequent but potentially devastating for large animals. Owners often face emotionally charged circumstances due to the helplessness to prevent or alter the circumstances of the fire, associated property loss, and the suffering of the animals. This lecture reviews the assessment and classification of burn injuries, prognostication, and short- and long-term approaches and considerations for burn management.
