This lecture outlines the virtuous cycle–how to innovate, study, and refine concepts to bring new technology into practice ethically. Emerging concepts in pediatric orthopedics are discussed, including motion-sparing approaches for scoliosis surgery, guided growth of the physis, and perioperative CT-guided navigation/robotics. The lecture also discusses automated registries, artificial intelligence approaches to imaging analysis, and the role of predictive modeling to improve clinical outcomes.
