Elizabeth Gong Landess is senior litigation counsel of the firm of RANKIN|ONEAL with almost 30 years of litigation experience in the civil litigation, tort defense and insurance defense arena. Ms. Gong Landess has been a licensed California attorney since 1988 and has a varied civil defense practice which includes an emphasis in representing veterinarians and veterinary clinics/practices in veterinary malpractice claims and license defense actions and veterinary practice consulting in liability areas, as well civil litigation defense in areas such as premises liability, products liability, professional liability, commercial general liability, construction defects, personal injury matters, landlord-tenant, restaurant/food-production, landslide/property damages and rental vehicle liability cases.
Ms. Gong Landess has defended hundreds of clients, including veterinarians and veterinary practices and clinics in lawsuits arising from claims of malpractice/negligence, as well as other practice-related areas, such as defamation, breach of contract and property damage and personal injuries, as well as California Veterinary Medical Board licensure/complaint actions. She also consults with veterinarians and veterinary practices on litigation mitigation/prevention and liability defense issues.
A graduate of Santa Clara University and Santa Clara University School of Law, Ms. Landess began her legal career in the offices of the Santa Clara County Counsel and the Santa Clara County District Attorney in the Juvenile Dependency units of each office. She has served as a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association’s Judiciary Committee, the Law Alumni Board of Directors for Santa Clara University School of Law and the National Board of Directors of Campfire Boys & Girls, as well as several local non-profit boards.
