Dr. Steurer attended Purdue University where he obtained his Master of Science Degree in 2004 and his DVM degree in 2007. While studying at Purdue University he received the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Award for Excellence in Small Animal Surgery. After graduation he completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Mississippi State University in June 2007. Dr. Steurer completed his surgical residency training at Purdue University in July 2011 and earned Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2012. He moved to Arizona to join Southwest Veterinary Surgical Service, PC in the summer of 2011. Dr. Steurer is trained in all areas of surgery, but his areas of interest include orthopedics, cranial cruciate repair (TPLO & TTA), fracture repair, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, and soft tissue surgery. He is a member of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Steurer is the Medical Director at Southwest Veterinary Surgical Service and serves as a member of the Animal Health Advisory Committee for the Phoenix Zoo.
