Dr. Brown holds a masters in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine and received her DVM from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. After internship and surgical residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, she became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and stayed on as a member of the faculty.
While serving as a Professor of Surgery, she led a sponsored translational research program that focused on the measurement and management of chronic pain in companion animals. She envisioned, built, and for over 10 years directed the Veterinary Clinical Investigation Center, providing the expertise and infrastructure for the design, implementation, and analysis of high-quality clinical trials within the academic teaching hospitals. More than 130 scientific publications and book chapters mark her 25 years in academia.
Dr. Brown joined Elanco Animal Health in 2017 to lead the Translational Comparative Medical Research program within Eli Lilly. She worked across the human health and animal health portfolios to identify synergies that could be leveraged for both organizations. Following the IPO from Lilly she directed a variety of global teams in Elanco Research & Development, focusing on delivering innovative approaches to disease prevention and treatment.
In 2023, Dr. Brown joined Mars Veterinary Health (MVH) as the Vice President of Science and Healthcare Innovation. She provides strategic and innovative leadership to build the science function across the world’s largest provider of veterinary care. With a focus on outcomes-based healthcare and clinical studies, her team leverages strategic partnerships to transform MVH knowledge, reach, and data-driven insights into industry-changing advancements that equip veterinary professionals with and tools they need to enable high-quality pet healthcare.
