A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Pike has undergone broad training leading to clinical interests in both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. His soft tissue interests include wound management, reconstructive surgery, and surgical oncology. His orthopedic interests include arthroscopy, joint preservation, and total joint arthroplasty. Dr. Pike has over 20 years of board-certified experience. He is the president of the Association for Veterinary Orthopedic Research and Education (https://www.avore.org).
Dr. Pike is a graduate of the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada where he obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Following three years in a mixed animal practice, Dr. Pike completed internships in medicine / surgery at the Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group, Ventura, California and anesthesia / critical care at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, North Grafton, Massachusetts. He completed his residency in small animal surgery at Tufts University/Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts (2003) and obtained board certification in 2004.
Dr. Pike is an invited laboratory instructor and guest lecturer for the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, the Veterinary Arthrology and Arthroscopy Association and the American Animal Hospital Association. He is a reviewer for several peer-reviewed veterinary journals and has authored and co-authored book chapters, manuscripts, and veterinary textbooks with an emphasis on hepatobiliary disease, wound management, and Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis.
