This lecture discusses surgical procedures performed on high value genetic dairy cattle to correct injuries that may not be life-threatening but significantly impact the animal's appearance and value. It covers uncommon orthopedic procedures, such as sacral and spinal transverse process fracture repair. Minimally invasive procedures to decrease recovery time and improve cosmetic appearance are also discussed. Working with this population of cattle presents challenges, but ultimately, it allows us to develop state-of-the-art procedures that may eventually benefit the entire cattle industry.
