Dr. Holsworth graduated in 1991 from the University of Melbourne. He became an examined Member of the Surgery College of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 1995. Dr. Holsworth relocated to Michigan as the International Surgery Fellow at Michigan State Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 1999. Following the fellowship, Dr. Holsworth completed a small animal surgical residency at the University of California, Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2003. Dr. Holsworth is currently the owner and Surgical Director of VetSurg in Ventura, CA, and has been heavily involved over the past 18 years as a surgical CE instructor and curriculum coordinator, and, over the past 12 years, in surgical equipment and orthopedic implant design. The development and dissemination of surgical procedure informatics in published print and video form has been a strong area of interest. Dr. Holsworth has primary and co-authorships in multiple scientific publications and book chapters, and has presented at many state, national and surgical meetings in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia. Topics covered have included shoulder, elbow, hip, and stifle disease in dogs with particular focus on advanced imaging, minimally invasive surgical techniques and treatment of canine joint disorders. Dr. Holsworth is a Founding Fellow in ACVS MIS Orthopedics, and has been the Chair of the ACVS Surgical Summit arthroscopy and joint surgery laboratory for the past fourteen years.
